In week 2 of their Passion Projects, 5th graders heard from Austin Seibert - NFL placekicker - and his passion for football and Sam Bauer and aircraft engineer and mechanic. Additional passions discussed were massage therapy and yoga instructing.
Kindergarten and 3rd Grade buddies, Mr. Sehr & Ms. Keen's classes met up on Friday to enjoy some time on the playground!
Yesterday the First Grade celebrated our wonderful secretaries, Mrs. Benedick and Mrs. Lester! They wanted to thank them for all they do for our school. The first graders made them books and did a little question and answer session with them. Thank you ladies!
This week in STEM...4th, 5th and 8th graders used VR headsets, 1st grade learned about maps, 2nd grade observed earthworms & 3rd grade used pulleys to pick up paperclips.

5th graders participated in their Passion Projects last week . A few of the guest speakers included Angie Gilbreth - registered nurse & assistant professor, Mike Crudale - former pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals and our own Mrs. Stuhlsatz shared her passion for philanthropy.
Smithton 5th Graders visited Busch Stadium today for their field trip. Students learned about baseball fans around the world, used science to find the direction of a hit, and took a tour of the stadium!

All students in our school who have had art class (+ preK) this year will have a piece of artwork displayed for parents to see. There will also be STEM and arts/craft activities in the cafeteria that evening. We'll end the night with the band and chorus concert. The artwork display and STEM/arts and crafts will take place from 5:30-7:00 p.m. and the band/chorus concert will start at 6:30 p.m.

6th Grade Students at Smithton School recently completed the DARE program with School Resource Officer Renee Sherman. The students learn to resist the use of drugs, alcohol and tobacco and to improve community and police relations. The students really enjoy the program.
