If you're satisfied with your child's picture, no further action is required.
If you purchased and were unhappy with your Picture Package, please send your Picture Package to school with your student on Retake Day. Your Retake Picture Package will be produced and shipped to the school four weeks after Retake Day. Please note, if your child is photographed on the original and Retake Picture Days, the Retake picture will replace the original picture in certain products, like the yearbook.
Students who were absent for Picture Day should come to school prepared to have their picture taken. If you have not preordered, please use the Retake Order Code 0528EZF to place your order at https://inter-state.com/Order.

Mrs. Carter and the 7th and 8th grade Art Club ran the kids' section at the Haunted Trail on Friday and Saturday nights. Kids who joined in the fun got their faces painted and decorated pumpkins. Many of our students stopped by to see us!

On October 21st, we will celebrate Unity Day in recognition of National Bullying Prevention Month. Unity Day is a day to come together and show that we are united against bullying and committed to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive school community.
Come see Smithton Art Club students at the Commercial Club's Haunted Trail this weekend! Students will be at the park from 6:30 to 9:30 tonight and Saturday night painting faces and decorating pumpkins. Stop by and see us!
Smithton Families - We are excited to announce our upcoming “Sock It to Cancer” campaign, running from Monday, October 19th, through Friday, October 23rd!
Each student will receive a pair of yellow socks tomorrow to help support this special cause. Students are encouraged to participate by collecting donations throughout the week. All socks should be returned to their homeroom teacher on Friday, October 23rd.
🍕 A little friendly competition! The class that collects the most money will win a pizza party!

8th graders in Mrs. Berry's Social Studies classes are learning about the different taxes imposed on the British colonists before our American Revolution. During theirTax Activity, Mrs. Berry took on the roll of Parliament Member Lord Berry from the House of Lords. We had King George III with us and another member of Parliament from the House of Commons. As Lord Berry, Mrs. Berry charged for various taxes that the British colonists (students) had to pay to the tax collector. The tax collector in each class period had a very busy job of collecting taxes. There was no tarring and feathering of our tax collectors! They were well protected by the members of Parliament. Through the activity the students/British colonists soon learned that the tax collector did not make much money. The tax collector collected 10% of the taxes, while British Parliament collected 50% of the taxes and King George III collected 40% of the taxes. All the money collected went for the betterment of Great Britain and not her 13 colonies.
Mrs. Berry's 7th Grade Social Studies students made leaves representing the 9/11 Survivor Tree. The original tree was growing in the World Trade Center Plaza prior to 9/11. After the attacks it was covered with debris but discovered to still be alive. It was brought to NYC Parks & Recreation and nursed back to health for 10 years. It was returned to the 9/11 memorial site in 2010. It is the only living object that made it back to the site alive. It is an inspiration to many.

Last week in STEM...Kindergarten cut vegetables for stone soup, 2nd grade made shadow drawings, 4th Grade learned about electricity with snap circuits,, 6th grade built earthquake buildings and 7th grade designed legos.
